HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WAFF ) - President Donald Trump announced plans to “pause migration from third world countries” in a Truth Social post less than 24 hours after a shooting in Washington, D.C., that killed one National Guard member and hospitalized another.
The accused shooter was identified as an Afghan national who first came to the United States in 2021.
“This heinous atrocity reminds us that we have no greater national security priority than ensuring that we have full control over the people that enter and remain in our country for the most part, we don’t want them,” Trump said.
While Trump did not name specific countries in his announcement, Haitian migrant and Huntsville resident Celeve Izean expects his former home to be included.
“I think so. I think so,” Izean said.
