POPE COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to Dixon Springs State Park on November 29 following a 911 call.
Pope County Sheriff Jerry Suits said the 911 call came in at 3:24 p.m. from a man at a campsite in the park.
Deputies with Pope County, Illinois State Police, and Golconda law enforcement quickly secured the area. Sheriff Suits said the individual was highly intoxicated. After about an hour on scene, authorities approached him and he was taken into custody without incident.
The man was cited with multiple offenses, including disorderly conduct, aggravated assault, intimidation of a public official, and public intoxication.
The incident remains under investigation.
