LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - The City of Lansing is extending its Code Blue cold weather alert.
The City activated its extreme Cold Weather plan back on Wednesday, Nov. 26, and it was supposed to last until lasting until 7 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 1. But now it will end at 7 A.M. Saturday, Dec. 6.
The plan will be in effect each night from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
The plan allows local shelters to operate for additional hours and temporarily increase capacity. It also allows the Fire and Police Departments to transport those in need to local shelters.
The CATA bus system will also continue to offer free rides to warming centers or shelters.
The Lansing Board of Water and Light will also not perform electric shut offs due to non-payment during the Code Blue.
