CARMEL- Let the festivities begin.
Early Saturday morning with a cold wind blowing off Lake Gleneida, a group of volunteers converged on the lakeshore in downtown Carmel and decorated 70 holiday trees which will be illuminated next Saturday evening during the Hamlet of Carmel Civic Association’s annual Holiday on the Lake.
Live music, a Parade of Lights and the annual tree lighting will highlight the event.
Organizers have been working for weeks to prepare for this year’s extravaganza that is expected to attract thousands to downtown Carmel.
Festivities begin at 4 p.m. with hayrides with Santa and trolley rides from Cornerstone Park throughout the hamlet.
From 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. a Chowder Fest will be held at the park followed at 5 pm with a ceremony honoring Putnam’s veterans.
