BEAUREGARD, Ala. (WTVM) - A man is in custody following the shooting death of 43-year-old Marcus Jacquez Strickland.

Authorities responded to a home off Lee Road 41 in Beauregard around 1AM Sunday. Officers found Strickland’s body inside and launched a death investigation. 44-year-old David Lavar Preston, who is described by officials as an acquaintance of Strickland, was identified as a potential suspect.

Members of the Lee County SWAT team found Preston at a home on Lee Road 117 in Cusseta. He was taken into custody and charged with murder.
