A police officer in Philadelphia was left seriously injured after being attacked by a dog.

The officer was attacked by the animal while responding to a domestic disturbance report around 8:45 p.m. local time on Saturday, Nov. 29, according to ABC 6 , CBS News and NBC Philadelphia .

The incident occurred in the Olney neighborhood of the city.
