JACKSON, MI – A Jackson home was destroyed in a late-night fire during the holiday weekend.
Fire crews were called a little after 12 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, to a home in the 300 block of W. Franklin Street for a reported structure fire, Jackson Fire Capt. Ryan Hendricks said.
Crews arrived to find heavy flames coming from the front of the home near the front doorway. The home’s occupants, two adults and one child, had safely evacuated the home prior to firefighters arrival, Hendricks said.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, but not before it caused significant damage to the home, which has been declared a total loss, Hendricks said.
The home’s occupants were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
