LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Louisville Free Public Library’s main branch is set to close starting Monday.
Earlier this month, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg announced that the main library downtown could be closed for a year to allow for renovation.
The main branch in downtown will close on Dec. 1. Those renovations are expected to take around 12 months and are not safe to do with the library open.
To accommodate the public, the mayor announced that other libraries around town will be opened with extended hours.
Greenberg stated that the decision was not made lightly, but that he would work to make sure the public had access to computers and other library services while renovations are completed.
