KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Knoxville Police Department said a man has died after he was hit by a car in a McDonald’s parking lot on Thanksgiving Day.
According to KPD, officers responded to reports of an incident involving a truck and the man in the parking lot of the McDonald’s on Millertown Pike at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
There, officers spoke with the driver, who said he was driving through the parking lot and trying to avoid another car in a tight space when he hit the man, KPD said, adding that he stopped immediately after the incident.
The pedestrian, identified as 78-year-old Ronnie Day, was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries.
