SPENCER — Winterfest has become a fixture on the Spencer holiday calendar since its inception five years ago, but this year is going to look a little different.
The change is due to the construction and opening of Spencer Town Park during the past year, which will provide a new setting for the festivities, albeit in a similar location. Previous Winterfests occupied the central downtown parking lot, roughly a third of of which was converted into the park.
Winterfest Committee Chairman Kimberly Lentz said the focus since the beginning has been to provide a special event for children of Rowan County, and the park bolsters that opportunity. .
