A 16-year-old boy has been quizzed in connection with a huge fire which devastated a grade II listed stately home in the North East. An investigation remains ongoing almost two months on from the suspected arson attack at Shotley Park, in Shotley Bridge, Consett.

A huge emergency response was sparked on October 5, with five fire crews spending hours tackling the ferocious flames coming from the historic building, which dates back to the 1800s. The former care home was gutted by the flames, with a huge chunk of the roof gone, and windows smashed.
