A 26-year-old Guelph man is facing robbery and weapons charges after police allege he threatened another man with a cattle prod.
According to Guelph police, officers were dispatched just after 5 p.m. Tuesday to an apartment complex on Speedvale Avenue East where a resident said he was taking drugs with another man who then accused him of stealing drugs.
The suspect, police said, then held a cattle prod toward the victim and took cash before fleeing the apartment.
Officers found the man outside the building nearly an hour later and arrested him. Police also seized small amounts of suspected fentanyl and hydromorphone.
The man was charged with robbery, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of possessing a controlled substance and breaching a probation order.
