A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash that killed a woman pedestrian on Castlebank Street in Glasgow .

The crash happened around 8.45pm on Tuesday (December 2), at a crossing island near to the entrance for Burger King and Starbucks. A female pedestrian was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time after arrival.

Police say that the woman was struck by a small black or dark coloured car, which allegedly failed to stop at the scene.

Now, the car has been traced and a 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The road was closed to allow enquiries to be carried out and has since re-opened.

Police Scotland have stated that enquiries are ongoing.
