Repairs to a play area are set to cost more than £70,000 after yobbos started a fire in an Ipswich park.
Police are investigating a blaze that happened in the Chantry Park play area in Ipswich at about 9pm on Tuesday.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called at 8.01pm to reports of the slide at the park being set on fire.
Once the firefighters arrived at the scene, the slide and rubber matting on the floor were found to be ablaze.
The slide has been destroyed due to the fire.
Two appliances from Princes Street and one from Ipswich East attended the incident and used two hose reel jets to put the fire out.
A fire accelerant was found at the scene as police confirmed the incident is being treated as arson.
The play area had only been opened back in August.
