BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ) - The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office says a suspect was arrested in a shooting that took place in Bedford County Monday evening, December 1, 2025.

The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Michael Edward Craghead of Troutville. According to authorities, investigators obtained warrants for Craghead for malicious wounding and use of firearm in commission of a felony.

He’s in jail without bond and more charges are pending the outcome of the investigation, according to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were dispatched to a Spirit Mart on Rt. 122 South in Bedford County to a report of a victim with possible gunshot wounds. The victim was found and was taken to a hospital; it was learned the shooting took place in the 3000 block of Dickerson Mill Rd.
