Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse head coach Fran Brown said he remained confident in his ability to land his program’s highest-profile commit in decades despite the fact that Calvin Russell decided not to sign with the Orange on Early National Signing Day.
The four-star wide receiver announced that he wouldn’t sign with a school on Wednesday, leaving the Orange in limbo and without a guarantee that their highest-ranked recruit will play for the school next year.
Russell made the announcement that he would delay his signing during a ceremony at his high school to celebrate National Signing Day.
Russell attends Florida powerhouse Miami Northwestern, where he has caught 32 passes for 517 yards and seven touchdowns. His team competes in the state semifinals in Florida this week.
