PORTLAND, Oregon — The city of Portland and Sound Transit are considering an unusual deal to essentially trade streetcars, exchanging three from Portland for three from the T Line in Tacoma. The swap is intended to streamline both systems by reducing the number of different streetcar models in each city's fleet.

The terms of the deal are outlined in a staff memo posted ahead of a Sound Transit committee meeting on Thursday, first reported by Ryan Packer . If approved, Tacoma would receive three Brookville Liberty NXT streetcars from Portland, while Portland would get three Skoda 10T streetcars from Tacoma plus a $16.6 million payment.
