Cocaine addict detective stole £400k of drugs to sell to dealer - what you need to know

Andrew Talbot, a former Greater Manchester Police detective and long-term cocaine addict, stole nearly 4kg of cocaine from the police property store. He conspired with convicted drug dealer Keith Bretherton to sell the stolen cocaine on the streets for profit.

The corruption case began in February 2020 when Talbot accidentally dropped a snap bag of cocaine outside his daughter’s primary school. CCTV identified him as the person who dropped it, prompting staff to alert police and triggering a formal investigation.
