HAMPTON, Va. — It was a busy day in Hampton as city leaders laid out their vision for the year ahead at the annual State of the City.

Mayor Jimmy Gray delivered his first State of the City address since taking office — zeroing in on the city's economy, education, housing and quality of life.

More than 800 people came out to hear Gray in his inaugural State of the City address.

He highlighted what the city has done right and what more can be done to coincide with this year's theme, 'Level Up.'

Hampton city leaders, staff, students and more gathered at Hampton Roads Convention Wednesday for an afternoon that highlighted projects, collaborations and partnerships that all foster a mission to strengthen the city of Hampton.
