EULESS, Texas — A Tarrant County caregiver accused of sexually assaulting a severely disabled woman avoided jail time this week, leaving the woman’s family upset that even hidden-camera footage wasn’t enough for a tougher outcome.
Elizabeth Carrillo, 47, had early-onset dementia and the mental capacity of a two-year-old. Last year, her family installed a hidden camera inside a picture frame in her Euless nursing home room after noticing troubling changes. The device allowed them to watch her room remotely.
In July 2024, that camera recorded caregiver Letrena Wren undressing Elizabeth, preparing to change her diaper, and then what authorities described as a sexual assault.
Manuel Carrillo, Elizabeth’s former husband, said his daughter saw the incident live as it happened.
