A major incident has been declared in Derby after around 200 homes were evacuated during a police operation.
Derbyshire Police said an evacuation cordon was put in place on Vulcan Street after officers carried out a warrant at a property, acting on intelligence about “materials at the address”.
Two men, one in his 40s and another in his 50s, have been arrested on suspicion of explosives offences. They remain in custody.
Emergency services, including Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Derby City Council, are all assisting at the scene.
Police stressed the incident is not being treated as terrorism-related and say there is no wider risk to the public. They added that the evacuation is precautionary to protect people living nearby.
