KENNER, La. — that started at big box stores across the metro have now moved deeper into neighborhoods.
In Kenner, a roofing job was stopped mid-day when Border Patrol agents showed up and took workers into custody — all while neighbors recorded the raid on their phones.
Families say the operation left them shaken. Neighbors on Marquette Street Wednesday afternoon saw federal immigration agents surrounding a construction site, with workers still on the roof and at least one person led away.
For the homeowner, it turned a long-awaited roof replacement into something she never imagined.
“Like I said, I would have never thought I’d have said the words, ‘my house got raided by ICE today'," a Kenner homeowner said.
