On Thursday at 11:56 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a snow squall warning in effect until 12:45 p.m. for Albany, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady and Schoharie counties.

"At 11:55 a.m., a dangerous snow squall was located near Duanesburg, or 8 miles south of Amsterdam, moving east at 40 mph," says the weather service. "Other locations impacted by this snow squall include Shakers, Bleecker Stadium, Glenridge, Hoffmans, Rockwell Corners, Albia, Harding Crossing, Young Corners, Garrison Manor, and Quaker Street."

"Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous within minutes," states the weather service. "There is no safe place on a highway when a snow squall hits. Visibility and traction are immediately lost in whiteout conditions, making it difficult or impo
