Almost 200 hundred homes over seven separate streets have been evacuated as a major incident was declared in Derby today (December 4). It followed a police warrant 'acting on intelligence about materials' at an address in Vulcan Street close to the city centre, Derbyshire Live reported.
Two Polish nationals, one man in his 40s and another in his 50s, have been arrested on suspicion of explosives offences and remain in police custody. Police say that this is not being investigated as a terrorism incident, that there is no risk to the wider community, and that evacuations are a precaution.
A major incident has been declared, and the force is working closely with colleagues from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Derby City Council. The Army
