LEHIGHTON, Pa. — With the first cold snap of the winter season on its way, the beds at Peaceful Knights emergency shelter on First Street in Lehighton are ready for men facing homelessness.

"So the nice thing about Peaceful Knights is that our Emergency shelter is open 365 days a year, every night, 7 p.m. those doors open, and men can stay until 9 a.m.," explained founder and director Aggie Schoenberger.

Schoenberger says when the temperatures drop, not much changes at the shelter because of its year-round operations. The shelter can accommodate up to 16 people if needed.

In winter months, if temperatures aren't expected to get above 32 degrees, they activate code blue, where men can stay at the shelter during the day.
