LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A special guest was on hand to cut the ribbon for UofL Health's new patient care tower in downtown Louisville Wednesday.
Louisville Metro Police Ofc. Nick Wilt was front and center to show off the new 7-story, $186 million building.
UofL Health officials said the new tower will be a big boost for patient care, adding more than 193,000 square feet to the hospital, which is a 43% increase.
It also adds new surgical suites, inpatient rooms, and a 24-bed observation unit to help ease the burden on their emergency department.
During the last several years, the downtown hospital has regularly been at 90% capacity or more.
Ken Marshall, the chief operations officer at UofL Health, said he was grateful for everyone who helped out on the project.
