Gunfire erupted in a Kenner neighborhood Wednesday morning after authorities say a family member responded to a fight between a couple.

Shemar Jefferson, 26, is accused of shooting at the 31-year-old boyfriend of his female relative at a home in the 3600 block of Tulane Drive, said Kenner Police Deputy Chief Mark McCormick.

No one was injured.

The melee began earlier that morning when the boyfriend and the woman, identified as his girlfriend, got into an altercation, McCormick said. It's not clear what led to the disagreement, but Jefferson went to the residence and confronted the boyfriend, according to authorities.
