BOSTON —

Boston police are warning residents after a credit card skimming device was found in a Brighton convenience store on Wednesday night.

According to authorities, the device was located at an ATM inside a Market Street store.

A technician servicing the machine reported an unauthorized electronic chip inside of it.

Responding detectives secured the device and determined it was a credit card skimmer.

The incident remains under investigation.

Skimming devices are used to steal victims' credit card and banking information. They can be concealed inside or over ATM card readers.
