For the fourth straight season the Baylor Red Raiders were able to end their season in the BlueCross Bowl at Finley Stadium. Unlike the last two years, they'll be taking a gold ball home.
The Red Raiders scored the go-ahead touchdown when Briggs Cherry found Braxton Rein for a six-yard score with 3:31 to play to give them the lead for good. Baylor's defense would shut the door on Brentwood Academy's chances for a potential game-winning drive as they come away with a 28-24 victory in the TSSAA Division-II AAA BlueCross Bowl.
It was a back-and-forth game for much of the 48 minutes. The teams exchanged touchdowns on their respective opening possessions before a Baylor TD late in the second quarter, followed by an Eagles field goal, helped the Red Raiders take a 14-10 halftime lead.
