Pellston Village President James Gillett said enough residents have responded positively in a survey to a proposed municipal water system that the project will take the next step.
The planned $44 million municipal water system, which would be built debt-free to help address PFAS contamination, gained the support of 87% of village residents who have a well in survey responses that initially had a Dec. 1 deadline and which has now been extended to Dec. 31.
"We had to meet a threshold of 51% of homeowners with wells in the village limits and we exceeded that number easily, so we can now proceed with the layout and engineering to get this going," said Gillett.
