BOSTON —
An electrical fire near a medical office building in Brighton caused smoke inside the building, prompting it to be evacuated.
The fire occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. near the Boston Medical Center - Brighton building on Cambridge Street.
"It was an outpatient building, a medical office building," said Boston Fire Division Commander Steven Shaffer. "Everybody was ambulatory. There were people at their regular appointments, and they and the staff were evacuated, and the building is now shut down."
All patients and staff are safe, and access to the nearby hospital is not affected. It is unclear how soon the medical office building will reopen.
