A new map shows how hospitals around the country are filling up with flu patients amid what has been called a "tidal wave" of illness. This comes as data from the week ending November 30 showed there were an average of 1,717 flu patients in hospital.
That's the highest number on record for this time of year. As reported by ChronicleLive, more than a hundred of those patients are in North East hospitals . Cases were 10 times higher than in the same week in 2023 (160), and more than 50% higher than last year (1,098).
Some NHS trusts around England are seeing far more patients being hospitalised with flu than others, however. University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust has had more patients hospitalised
