(WNDU) - Indiana and Michigan state police are reminding drivers to drive sober or get pulled over as they increase patrols through New Year’s Day.

According to our affiliate WILX , 19 people were killed in crashes in Michigan during the holidays from 2020 to 2024. Nine of those crashes involved alcohol or drugs.

Police said state troopers will increase their patrols through Jan. 1 to keep drivers safe.

Police are encouraging people to celebrate safely during the holiday period.
