PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (WPRI) — A man was arrested in Portsmouth last week, accused of attempting to solicit a minor for sex, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Josue Santiago Perez Gomez, 29, was charged on Friday, July 12, with patronizing a minor for commercial sex, indecent solicitation of a child, and procurement of sexual conduct for a fee.

The following day, he was "administratively arrested" by ICE New England after reportedly being released on bond from criminal custody.

ICE said Perez Gomez is an "illegally present Guatemalan national" who entered the United States "at an unknown time without inspection."

He remains in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.
