CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Dangerous heat and humidity returned to the Carolinas late last week, so the WCNC Weather Impact Team is encouraging Charlotte-area residents to stay Weather Alert.
A Heat Advisory is in place for many local counties including Mecklenburg, Gaston, York, Cabarrus, Stanly, Union, Anson, Lancaster, Chester, Chesterfield and Richmond counties from noon to 8 p.m. Monday. This was expanded on Sunday afternoon and continues through Monday.
Medic said it responded to around 15 heat-related calls over the weekend in Charlotte.
In Burke County, Burke Rescue said it responded to two heat-related emergencies along Pinch-in Trail and another near Chimney Gap; all of those cases involved hikers suffering from signs of heat exhaustion and dehydration.
