It’s been a brutal stretch of weather for our area, and we'll continue to monitor the dangerous heat and humidity through at least Wednesday. An Extreme Heat warning remains in effect until Wednesday evening, with overnight lows struggling to get out of the upper 70s.
We're expecting heat index values to climb over 105, and in some spots, potentially even push 110 degrees. This level of heat is certainly not normal for us, and we're advising everyone to take precautions, stay hydrated, and limit outdoor activities during the peak heat of the day. Portions of our region, including southeast Missouri, west Kentucky, and far southern Illinois, could even continue to see heat index readings above 100 tomorrow, possibly touching 105 in the far south.
