Afton resident Joe M. Richardson is running for the North District seat on the Nelson County School Board.

Richardson is certified on the ballot along with county resident Sarah Beth Tracy, according to the Nelson County Registrar Office. Tracy has not responded to a request for comments as of press time.

The winner in the Nov. 4 election will succeed North District representative Janet Turner-Giles, who earlier this year announced she was not running for another term after serving the past 12 years.

“The motivation for seeking this office is one of serving the parents, guardians, students, teachers and other members in our community — representing their values and to improve the educational experience for students of Nelson County,” Richardson said.
