The next several days are expected to be cooler than normal for this time of year across Hampton Roads, giving people a much needed break.

A cold front arriving from the north Thursday afternoon will bring scattered showers through Saturday afternoon and a chance of thunderstorms on Friday along with some flooding, according to the National Weather Service. Following a heat index of 102 degrees on Thursday — near heat advisory territory — temperatures will drop into the lower 80s, below normal for this time of year, along with low humidity.
