OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Groups across the metro are looking for ways to combat affordable housing issues.

This week, Front Porch Investments set its focus on North Omaha during Native Omaha Days.

The nonprofit hosted an input session Friday at the Malcolm X Foundation. Organizers told First Alert 6 that historic redlining in North Omaha leaves ripples in the community today.

“Redlining was a nation-wide program that literally priced, not only black and brown people out of homes - nice homes and nice areas, but actually had legislation, laws, and community support around segregation,” Policy Fellow with the Malcolm X Foundation Schmeeka Simpson said.
