GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Michigan State Police say they have identified a kidnapping and sexual assault suspect nearly 40 years after the attack took place.

MSP says criminal charges and an arrest warrant were filed on July 29 for a 78-year-old Wisconsin man. He was accused of kidnapping and first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

The victim is a woman who was assaulted outside of a public bathroom in August 1986 in Delta County. The woman was on a bike trip from her home in Wisconsin to Sault Ste. Marie. She was allegedly kidnapped at gunpoint and forced into the suspect’s car, where she was allegedly assaulted multiple times.
