LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Rodney D. Bennett posted on Monday a plan to cut $27.5 million from the budget by the end of 2025.

In the letter, Bennett noted how the university had been working on eliminating the structural deficit for several budget cycles, and wanted to further discuss the matter in order to address the upcoming challenges and side-effects of such repeated budget processes.

Bennett said that he’ll be initiating the formal budget reduction process to include convening the Academic Planning Committee. This week, the APC will discuss the framework for budget reduction. A final budget reduction plan will be proposed to the Office of the President in late October.
