CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A local woman has vacation plans after winning a lottery jackpot.

The NC Lottery says Charlottean Barbara Burris won $336,635 by using family birthdays to pick numbers for the Cash 5.

“I burst out and started crying,” said Burris. “I just couldn’t believe it.”

She bought the lucky ticket for $1 at the Harris Teeter on University City Boulevard in northeast Charlotte. The odds of this win are 1 in 962,598.

“We are going to Disney World in October,” Burris said. “I was going to drive, but now we are going to fly.”

On Tuesday, Burris went to the lottery headquarters in Raleigh to claim her winnings. After taxes, she took home $241,536.

Cash 5 is one of six games in NC where players can buy tickets in person or online. Wednesday’s jackpot is $130,000.
