CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Another bat tests positive for rabies in Mecklenburg County, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control (ACC).
On Wednesday, August 6, the ACC was notified by their liaison with the Mecklenburg County Department of Public Health that a rabies alert would be sent out at 7 p.m.
The alert will be sent to residents on or near Arbor Creek Drive in Charlotte (ZIP code: 28269).
Officials say there were no human or domestic pet exposures to the bat.
This marks the county's 6th positive rabies case for 2025. So far this year, three raccoons and three bats have tested positive. All the bats were from the same ZIP code.
In 2024, there were 14 confirmed cases, with ten of them being from raccoons.
