BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A Kern County firefighter who beat cancer twice reported for duty Wednesday morning at Station 46 in Lamont.
Randy Raymond was diagnosed with testicular cancer in December 2023, which doctors thought they had removed. But the cancer returned this year and spread to his lymph nodes, which forced him to undergo several rounds of chemotherapy.
Raymond said the support he received was critical.
"I think it could have been worse. I think I had the best family in the world around me. My crew calling me everyday, all of my battalion called me everyday, my whole department called me everyday. Nobody left me alone," Raymond said. "If they called or texted, they're with me forever. They're all my close friends now."
