The New Mexico Department of Health warned New Mexicans that temperatures in the state are forecasted to reach as high as 107 degrees over the weekend.

"Since April 1 there have been over 500 emergency department visits related to heat illness around the state," said NMDOH Environmental Health Epidemiology bureau chief Chelsea Eastman Langer in a news release. "Vulnerable populations, including children, adults over 65 years of age, outdoor workers, and those with chronic health conditions are at greatest risk."

Temperatures reach 102 through Aug. 10

The National Weather Service forecast temperatures would reach 102 through Sunday, Aug. 10 in Las Cruces.

A high of 102 degrees Fahrenheit was forecast for Friday, Aug. 8 and Saturday, Aug. 10.
