OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - After multiple rounds of storms and rain this summer, Omaha’s drought situation continues to improve. Now there is only a small area with moderate drought, and some areas with abnormal dryness in the southeast corner of our viewing area. This includes rainfall data through Tuesday, August 5th. Any rain that fell Wednesday morning is not included.

You can see the difference that just a few weeks can make when we compare the drought monitor this week to the week of July 1st. Iowa is officially drought-free now with just a tiny amount of abnormal dryness in our viewing area. Nebraska has improved a lot, too! Areas with abnormal dryness or worse have dropped from 95% of the state to 54% of the state.
