This unusually hot start to August has lead us into enhanced fire weather risk. Today gusts have reached up to 40 mph on the Western Slope, as a strong low pressure zone in the Pacific Northwest contrasts our high pressure have led to increasing wind gusts. With temperatures reaching 100 degrees and up, including here in Junction, the possibility of fires spreading has increased. Tomorrow will sadly be a repreat of today with 100 degree temperatures and gusts up to 40 mph. Red Flag Warnings are extended through Saturday. While we get back down to average on Sunday, next week will look similar as we get into the upper 90s.
