Former Greensboro City Attorney Chuck Watts used at least some city resources and systems to carry out work for an outside client, according to documents provided by the city.
These documents include screenshots showing Watts conducting legal business on behalf of the defense contractor Cyberlux using his city email.
In addition, two spreadsheets cataloging legal filings in April and May listed submissions for two cases involving Cyberlux that did not involve the city of Greensboro.
Watts, who retired from the city on July 2, said in an email Thursday that the emails in question were sent in error and did not incur any cost for the city. As for the filings, Watts said that city finance liaison gave permission and that he paid the city back for any expenses.
