The transportation "front door" of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County — the terminal building at Smith Reynolds Airport — will show off Monday the results of the $12.65 million makeover of one of North Carolina's oldest terminal buildings.

The ribbon-cutting event is set for 11 a.m. on the airport campus at 3801 N. Liberty St. It is the first significant renovation since the 1980s.

Funding for the renovation project came primarily from an $11.2 million contract approved by the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners in June 2023.

The county was approved for a $7.12 million limited obligation bond, while the airport received $5 million from the state Capital Infrastructure Fund. Signature Aviation, the airport's anchor tenant, provided $550,000.
