OMAHA, Neb. —

The community came together to remember a 22-year-old, who was killed in a shooting at a Native Omaha Days event.

There were a lot of bowed heads and prayers to remember Chance McCowin.

Omaha police said a gunman opened fire near 24th Street and Patrick Avenue on Monday morning.

McCowin died on his way to the hospital.

Two others were hurt.

Pastor Bruce Williams said something has to change.

"You know, have a relationship with your local Omaha Police Department. They're here to help, and they're not here to hurt. That way we can see some of this violence go down," he said.
